JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – In 1990, Pastor Fritz Buegle started a Thanksgiving tradition that would continue to grow every year in Jamestown.

The 28th Concordia Lutheran Church Thanksgiving Meal will be serving up a full and free Thanksgiving Day meal to those who don’t want to travel, have no family, or don’t want to cook during the holiday.

Volunteer Betty Mahlke says Pastor Buegle saw a need for the meal in Jamestown, prompting him to begin what would soon be a huge holiday event for the community.

The meal will be served up from 11 AM to 1 PM on Thanksgiving Day inside Concordia Lutheran Church. Mahlke says volunteers begin to prepare the meal the day prior at the University of Jamestown thanks go Sodexo. She says it takes a lot of volunteers and food to serve everyone.

Mahlke says all food that may be left over from the event will donated to the local Daily Bread program. She says another thing provided for the meal is the option of delivery and rides to the church.

Mahlke says there is a need for volunteers to help prepare and serve the food.

A service will be held before the meal at 10 AM. For more information, to volunteer, meal delivery or a ride, call 701-252-2819. The church is located at 502 1st Avenue North in Jamestown.
