JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Lane Bell scored 47 seconds into the first period on the first shot of the game and Billy Laaveg stopped all 18 shots he faced as Grafton/Park River slipped past Jamestown 2-0 in the boys hockey season opener for both teams.

Bell’s goal came off a centering pass from Caden Seim. Bell, with a Blue Jay defender on him, got the puck under neath Riley Gerhardt’s pad.

Riley Eide got the second goal with 5:19 remaining in the first period. Matthew Suda shot the puck wide of the net but the it bounced off the back wall right on to Eide’s stick for the easy goal to make it 2-0.

Jamestown had a few scoring chances but the ones they did, Laaveg stopped all of them.

The Blue Jays will host Mandan on Friday night at John L. Wilson Arena in what will be a non-conference game with the Braves. Grafton/Park River will host Detroit Lakes next Tuesday.
