VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A 19 year-old man escaped serious injury after he drove his car into Lake Ashtabula on Thursday north of Valley City.
Barnes County Chief Deputy Don Fiebiger said the man admitted to authorities that he was attempting to commit suicide.
The 19 year-old was transported to the hospital for treatment in Valley City. He suffered non-life threatening injuries. He’s a native of Fargo and a student at Valley City State University. The incident remains under investigation.

A Barnes County dispatcher said law enforcement responded to more than 20 vehicles that slid off I-94 due to slippery road surfaces on Thursday, November 15th.
Fiebiger helped get a trucker out of his cab after it landed on it’s side in the median of I-94 east of Valley City.
