JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Police Department was stretched thin Tuesday afternoon after more than 20 accidents due to the weather were reported in Jamestown.
Major Justin Blinsky reports that between 12:30 and 5:30 PM, the department had responded to 21 different incidents.
“20 of the accidents were property damage, but one was an injury accident,” Major Blinsky reported. “The injuries weren’t serious.”
Major Blinksy says the inclement weather may have caught some drivers off guard, but motorists need to remember to drive for the conditions.
“Some of these accidents were preventable,” Major Blinksy pointed out.
The roadways remain extremely icy and sand has been placed on many streets, but wind has caused most of the sand to be pushed away, leaving ice covered roads in the city.
You’re encouraged to drive for the winter conditions, slow down and be safe when traversing in city limits.
Snow is expected to continue until tomorrow morning with wind gusts of more than 35 mph continuing through the evening.
