OAKES, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – An Oakes semi driver was injured after he rear-ended a combine along Dickey County Road 5 Tuesday morning.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol reports that 37 year-old Daryell Simpson was traveling westbound when he approached a combine traveling partially off the roadway. The semi rear-ended the combine just after a vehicle passed traveling in the opposite direction at around 9:30 AM.

“The semi impacted the header of the combine which was elevated due to being partially off the roadway,” Trooper Jon Skalicky reports. “The driver of the semi was transported to the Oakes hospital by ambulance and later flown to Fargo for further treatment.”

Combine operator 59 year-old John Quandt of Oakes was not injured.

The Dickey County Sheriff’s Office, Oakes Police Department, Oakes Ambulance, and Oakes Fire/Rescue assisted in the incident.
