JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Finance & Legal Committee approved a resolution to support ND Cares and a committee for the community of Jamestown.
The North Dakota Cares coalition (ND Cares) began in May 2013 afer a team from North Dakota attended an academy hosted by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).
“ND Cares is not a provider of services; rather it is dedicated to improving understanding of the needs and services required by our heroes who should be able to access them close to home,” their website states.
Darcie Handt is the Executive Director for North Dakota Cares.
Handt says they were looking at building a support network with businesses and cities.
Handt says there are currently 45 communities involved in the support network which includes Fargo, Bismarck, Williston, Lisbon and more. He says ND Cares will be readily available to help with events, services and more.
The committee unanimously approved the resolution and will designate a local steering committee for the program.
