JAMESTOWN, N.D. (JimmieAthletics.com) – A pair of interceptions returned for touchdowns combined with two big scoring plays helped Dordt (Iowa) take a 35-12 halftime lead on the way to a 49-18 win over the University of Jamestown in Great Plains Athletic Conference play Saturday.
Casey Byker returned interceptions 97 and 41 yards for scores while Keithen Drury had touchdowns of 16 and 65 yards for the Defenders.
Jordan Mann (JR/Bismarck, N.D.) and Jimmy Hatch (JR/Sacramento, Calif.) had the UJ touchdowns in the first half, with Mann running it in from 24 yards and Hatch 10.
Dordt quarterback Brock Lamle connected with Levi Jungling for a 31-yard touchdown for the Defenders’ final touchdown of the half.
Mann found Garrett Mitchell (FR/Shakopee, Minn.) for a five-yard touchdown grab in the third quarter to make it 35-18, but Lamie threw two more touchdowns in the second half to make it 49-18.
Jamestown outgained Dordt 402-354 in the game, with 243 of their yards coming on the ground. Hatch led the way with 86 yards on 14 carries. Tanner Mathern (SO/Edgeley, N.D.) added 45 yards on eight carries, and Allen Jevning (SO/Brainerd, Minn.) rushed 13 times for 40 yards.
Mann was 13-of-28 passing for 137 yards, throwing one touchdown and two interceptions. Marcus Giles (FR/Blaine, Minn.) caught four passes for 47 yards and Barry Williams Jr. (FR/Las Vegas, Nev.) had 42 yards on two catches.
Caleb Ellingson (SR/Jamestown, N.D.) had eight tackles to pace the defense. Morgan Borland (SR/Brownsville, Texas) recorded a sack among his three tackles.
Jamestown (2-6, 1-5 GPAC) returns home next Saturday to host Dakota Wesleyan (S.D.) in a 1:00 p.m. kickoff from Rollie Greeno Field.
