BUFFALO, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)- It was trying season for The Maple Valley/Enderlin Football Team.  After last Friday’s loss to Ellendale/Edgeley/Kulm 26-6 The Falcons ended their year 0-8.

A learning curve was expected this year for coach Nathan Hoot’s team, they lost a majority of their starters from 2017 and had very limited experience in their skill players. The Falcon’s were able to hang with some of the top teams in the region even losing 3 games by less than 10 points.

Coach Hoots was impressed by how his team battle all season long

Ten seniors were on the MVE roster this season, several were key contributors on the field while also helping through tough stretches over the long season

Senior quarterback Chance Bye, who played the position for the first time, passes for 1347 yards with 6 touchdowns. Bye also rushed for 132 yards. Carson Hovelson had 483 yards and 3 touchdowns on 40 catches. Lain Combs was the lead rusher with 356 yards and 3 TDs. Grady Karges had 69 yards and 2 scores.

Darian Walburn led the team with 53 tackles, 2 sacks and fumble recovery. Karges had 51 tackles and Combs 44. Hovelson and Combs both had 2 interceptions.

The NDHSAA will realign classes and regions next year as a new 2 year cycle begins for football. MVE joins the 9 man ranks, the coaching staff will spend the offseason preparing for the change

Maple Valley and Enderlin began their football co-op in 2006.
