VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – “Christmas came early!” is how one of the students in the welding class summed it up.

The Development Corporation collaborated with the Sheyenne Valley Area Career and Technology Center (SVACTC) to upgrade welding equipment.

SVACTC Executive Director Jeff Bopp said the Economic Development funds through the City of Valley City and Barnes County made the upgrade to the Center’s existing welding equipment happen. The SVACTC now has four new pulse welders that use processes similar to those used by our local manufacturing companies. He said students will acquire skills that are in demand and give them a leg up should they decide to pursue careers as welders. The Career Center also invested funds toward this project.

Valley City Barnes County Director of Economic Development Jennifer Feist said the Development Corporation is making a 4-week-long community education welding class available to help individuals and businesses. The class will take place at the SVACTC and begin on the evening of October 29th. A $600 stipend will be available for those who:

· Complete the class successfully

· Are available for employment at a drug-free workplace

· Allow us to share contact information with area employers

A 100% attendance rate is required. Apply early, the class is limited to 10 students. If you or someone you know is interested in this welding class, visit https://valleycitynd.org/training-programs for more information or contact Trinity at (701) 490-3530 or vdgoffice@hellovalley.com.
