JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Police Department and several other agencies were called to a home invasion early Sunday morning in Northwest Jamestown.

Major Justin Blinksy reports that they received a call of an unknown intruder inside a residence at around 4:43 AM. The caller was identified as the owner of the home.

“The homeowners were not inside the residence at the time, but had been notified by a surveillance system that there was an intruder inside the residents,” Major Blinsky stated. “However, there was a family member inside the residence at the time of the incident.”

The homeowners went back to the residence and found 2 broken door frames. They were able to get the family member inside the residence before the police arrived. When police arrived a few minutes later, they approached the home and were met by the suspect still inside.

“They gave commands for the suspect to exit the house, but the suspect retreated back into the house and appeared to barricade himself out of view of officers,” Major Blinksy reports. “Several attempts were made to convince the suspect to exit the house, but the suspect did not comply with the officer’s orders. At the time, it was not known if the intruder was armed or what his intentions were.”

After more than 3 hours, the James-Valley Special Operations Team made entry into the residence. The Special Operations Team utilized the assistance of Jamestown Police K-9 “Odin” during the residence search. The team made contact with the intruder inside one of the rooms just after 8:00 AM.

The suspect has been identified as 20 year-old Chase Michael Urie of Proctor, MN. He also temporarily resides in Jamestown. He was arrested on suspicion of Felony Criminal Trespass, Criminal Mischief, and Consumption of Alcoholic Beverages by a Minor. He is currently at the Stutsman County Correctional Center to await formal charges.

There were no injuries during the incident which remains under investigation.
