LISBON, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Preslie Ercink and Jade Bergeman each had double-doubles and Lisbon as a team had 133 digs in a four set win over visiting Maple Valley Tuesday night.
Ercink had 23 digs to go along with a team high 13 kills. Bergemann had 21 set assists and 19 digs for the Broncos. Also in double figures in digs were Mandy Saxerud, Abby Shockman and Cassidy Rostock each had 13. Libero Jamie Reinke led the way with 29 digs. Before the match, Reinke was honored for her 1,000th dig. Head coach Ronni Carter says that is a great accomplishment and a first.
The Broncos won the first two sets fairly easily, 25-14, 25-18. But Maple Valley came back with a 25-23 win in the third set. In the fourth set, the Raiders led by as much as five points but the Broncos came from behind for a 26-24 win. Coach Carter said they showed her something in the last set that had been missing this season.
The Raiders were led by Madison Olson with 11 kills. Breanna Walburn had five and Courtney Hovelson has 4. Sophia Weshnevski came of the bench to spark the Raiders in the third set and ended with 12 set assists. Kaylee Janisch added nine.
The Broncos improve to 8-18 overall and 2-9 in Region 1. The travel to Sargent Central for another region 1 marchup on Thursday. Maple Valley falls to 6-14 overall and 2-10 in the region. They host Wyndmere-Lidgerwood on Thursday in a Region 1 match.
