Carrington, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)——The battle of the Cardinals went to fifth rated Langdon-Edmore-Munich (LEM) in a defensive battle that ended with the visitors picking up a 18-14 victory. Carrington (ranked number two in the state poll) outgained LEM 198 total yards to 163 yards. Carrington had the early momentum when Seth Nelson intercepted Simon Romfo’s second pass attempt of the game and returned it 26 yards for a Carrington touchdown just 55 seconds into the game. That would be the only score until the middle of the fourth quarter for Carrington. LEM would score 18 unanswered points and held off 2 potential Carrington scoring chances in the final 4 minutes of the games. Romfo threw a pair of touchdown passes and ran for another accounting for all 18 of LEM points. Romfo completed 8-17 passes for 116 yards and also had the 1 interception to Nelson. Grant Romfo was LEM leading rusher with 33 yards on 10 carries. Grant also led LEM with 53 receiving yards on 2 catches. Sean Gette hauled in a 21 yard touchdown reception and Noah Anderson hauled in 3 catches for 18 yards and a touchdown.
Carrington was held to a season low 198 total yards of offense. Drew Page had a game high 71 rushing yards on 21 carries including a touchdown. Seth Nelson completed 8-19 passes for 96 yards and threw 3 interceptions. Lucas Geiszler was Carrington’s receiver with 3 catches for 46 yards. Geiszler also had 4 carries for 29 yards. Page also added 3 catches for 22 yards. LEM improved to 6-0 overall and 5-0 in Region 2. Carrington dropped it’s first game of the year, now 5-1 overall and 4-1 in Region 2.
