HUNTER, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Jordan Sours nearly equaled Northern Cass in points leading Lisbon to a 30-26 win over the Jaguars Friday night, spoiling homecoming for the Jags.
Sours scored on runs of five, 62 and one yard and added three 2-point conversions. The 62 yard touchdown came on the first play of the second half giving the Broncos the a 22-6 lead.
Lisbon scored the first 16 points of the game on five yard runs by Hunter Schultz and Sours, with Sours adding both conversions.
But after the second touchdown, just eleven seconds later, Northern Cass got one back when Colin Conteh returned the kickoff 79 yards for the score. The two point conversion was no good making 16-6 Libson at the half.
Lisbon got the ball to start the second half and Sours promptly gave his team the 16 point lead back with a 62 yard touchdown on the first play of the half.
Wrigley Elston’s first of three touchdown passes came next when he found a wide open Brady Richman at the five for the easy 28 yard scoring strike. Another missed 2-point conversion made it 22-12.
Sours would add his third and final touchdown right before end of the third quarter with a one yard plunge. Sours ended the game with 171 yards rushing on 27 carries. Hunter Schultz had 81 yards on 25 carries. The Broncos had 241 total yards on the ground and another 25 threw the air, all by Schultz.
Elston would strike again, two minutes into the fourth quarter when he found a streaking Dalton Waldo over the middle. The pass and catch went 50 yards for the touchdown to get the Jaguars within 10 points. Elston’s final touchdown came on a 27 yard score to Richman. Elston was surrounded by Bronco defenders and let loose an ill advised pass, but somehow Richman came down with it in the end zone for the final margin 30-26.
With four scoring plays of 25 yards or more, Lisbon coach Joe Gerding says they still have issues with the big play that they need to clean up.
Elston threw for 245 yards on 13 of 26 passing with three touchdowns and one interception. Jase Crockett added another 61 yards passing for a total of 306. But the Bronco defense held the Jaguars to 2 yards rushing. Brady Richman had eight catches for 164 yards and two scores. Collin Jensen had four receptions for 61 yards and Waldo the one catch for 50 yards and a score.
Lisbon snaps a two game losing streak and head into homecoming week 2-3 with Fargo Oak Grove coming to town. The Jaguars are 3-2 on the season and travel to Kulm next week to play Ellendale-Edgeley-Kulm on Friday night.
