JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – During September, National Recovery Month observes substance use treatment and mental health services for those with a mental and/or substance use disorder.
“There are millions of Americans whose lives have been transformed through recovery,” the National Association for Addiction Professionals states. “Since these successes often go unnoticed by the broader population, Recovery Month provides a vehicle for everyone to celebrate these accomplishments. Each September, tens of thousands of prevention, treatment, and recovery programs and facilities around the country celebrate Recovery Month.”
An event in Jamestown has been planned for September 27th. Jake Reinarts is a local volunteer for the planned recovery walk.
Reinarts says the local walk has been going on for many years. He says anyone can come to listen to speakers, learn more about addiction and the different services that are available.
The walk will be held at McElroy Park from 5:15 PM to 8 PM. Reinarts says some professionals will also be on hand to provide guidance for those seeking it.
