JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – After a summer filled with renovations and closure, the Alfred Dickey Library has once again opened their doors to the public.
The renovations are part of the upcoming Centennial Celebration in which the library will become 100 years old. the renovations not only bring the library into a 21st Century learning space, but Library Director Joe Rector says it hopefully means the library will be around for another 100 years.
While some worried the renovations would detract from the history of the library, Rector says none of that has been messed with.
Rector says all of the renovations plans were set in motion when the vote to build a new library was unsuccessful in 2014.
An exciting addition to the library is the Louis L’Amour room, which Rector estimates will be completed by the February 2019 Centennial Celebration.
The open house runs until 5 PM today and the library will resume normal hours Thursday.
