LINTON, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)- The Oakes High Football team had never won in Linton in the program’s history going into Friday night’s pivotal Region III contest.
The Tornadoes made up for all those past heartbreaks with a dominating 35-0 shellacking of the Lions to improve to 4-0 overall and 2-0 in Region III.
The score was only 7-0 at the half, with the lone touchdown coming from a two yard pass from Garret Meehl to Logan Sell a few minutes into the second quarter.
But Oakes’ David Schmitz returned the second half kickoff 80 yards into the end zone, and they never looked back. The Tornadoes put two more Sell rushing touchdowns on the board in the third, a nine yard run followed by a 40 yard dash. Marc Seyer punched it in from five yards out in the fourth to seal the deal.
Oakes welcomes Napoleon/Gackle-Streeter Friday, September 14. Coverage on The Tornado KDDR-AM 1220/95.9 FM and NewsDakota.com starts at 6:30.
