JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Central Cass Squirrels are unbeaten and bring a high-powered offensive attack to Jamestown in Week 3 of the high school football season. QB Johan Leitz threw for 290 yards and four touchdowns in last week’s 39-19 win over Devils Lake and the Squirrels also routed Wahpeton, 50-8.
Jamestown had some trouble with the Shanley passing attack in the opener when Haley Bucholz caught three passes for 214 yards and two touchdowns. However, they have Jared Kallenbach back who missed that first game with an injury.
What Lietz has done through the first two weeks has certainly been impressive. “Last year, he was a bit more a gunslinger, but he’s settled down and started taking what the defense has given him,” said Squirrels head coach Nathan Lutkemeier.
Jamestown has gotten pretty good QB play through the first two weeks as well with Tommy Falk throwing a pair of touchdowns in each game. He also ran for one against Watford City.
You can listen to tonight’s game on ESPN Jamestown (AM 1400/107.1 FM) starting with the pregame show at 6:30pm including interviews with both head coaches.
The Jays are not at home again until homecoming on September 28th against Valley City. Their next two games are on the road and not on Friday nights. Jamestown plays next week on Thursday at Turtle Mountain and on Saturday the 22nd at St. Mary’s.
