JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Two things are certain following the one year anniversary of the Jamestown Two Rivers Activity Center (TRAC).
Expectations have been surpassed and there’s still a lot more to come.
On September 5th, TRAC celebrated their one year anniversary and thanked donors and those who made the center possible. The $28.6 million project took 17 months of construction and prioritized the community’s needs for the first phase. Facilities Manager Amy Walters said one year later, they are still overwhelmed by how well the facility has been received.
In one year, the center has 3,815 active members. Walters reported during a small presentation that over 8,000 day passes had been sold, 609 had taken swim lessons, and the center has awarded a total of $16,320 in scholarships for low-income and special needs persons/families.
With a year in the books, Walters says the staff and Building Community Capital Campaign Committee would be shifting their sights to the 2nd phase of the project.
Walters says the outdoor water experience remains a priority for the community.
Walters says they’re slowing approaching their first $1 million for the 2nd Phase. Phase 2 will require a total of $12 million in expansions to TRAC including the outdoor water park, Endowment Fund, indoor playground, climbing wall, racquetball/walleyball courts, and more court space.
