Daniel Arthur Halland, 64, passed away Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, ND, with his family by his side.
Dan was born January 6, 1954 in Fargo, ND to Elmer and Rita (VonBank) Halland. He grew up on the family farm near Buffalo, ND. In 1972, he graduated from Tower City High School. He worked many jobs in many different types of construction. Dan worked for the Cass County Highway Department and then went into his own construction business known as “Double D Blading”. His most recent passion was woodworking, known as “Hollywood’s Reclaimed Barnwood”.
In 1981, he married the love of his life, Gayle Miller. They made their home in Tower City, ND with their children before moving to Sioux Falls, SD. They returned to their rural home in ND in 2006.
He enjoyed spending time at the lake fishing and being with his family. His most important name is Papa Dan. His grand kids held a very special place in his heart and he was very proud of them.
Dan will be most remembered by his personality. If there was a place that he didn’t know anybody, he was sure to know someone before he left. The entertainment and laughter of Dan will be missed by all.
