VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A Valley City woman who told us that her 14-year-old daughter was subjected to bullying and racial slurs by several boys for more than a year as a student in the Valley City Public School District is now back in school.
Valley City School Superintendent Josh Johnson said school leaders suspended one boy for four days earlier this year after he was accused of making racial slurs to Nikita Shipp’s daughter.
Shipp told NewsDakota.com that following her daughter’s therapy this summer, she and her family encouraged her to return back to Valley City. She said the community should come together and educate our children about racism. Shipp is pursuing legal action against two boys in the juvenile court system. The full interview is available below.
Superintendent Josh Johnson said, “Valley City Public Schools places student safety number one and we strive to provide the best experiences for all of our students.”
