LISBON, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – It’s hard to believe but the movie “Grease” was released 40 summers ago.

To commemorate the film, the owners of the Historic Scenic Movie Theater in Lisbon along with the local car club held a fun event on August 22nd.

Co-event coordinator and theater owner Al Michaels talked to reporter Steve Urness about the fun event and how he and others put together a replica of that classic car featured in the movie and parked in front of the oldest movie theater in America.

The Scenic Theater has been in continuous operation since it opened in downtown Lisbon back in 1911. Michaels said he and his wife Betty have owned and operated it for 18 years along with several volunteers. He said they plan to sell the theater in about two years.

The evening started with a display of classic cars and truck in downtown Lisbon. A few vendors sold grilled food and other goodies during the August 22nd event. Here are a few highlights.
