VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Enrollment numbers look good at the Valley City Public School District as 1,100 students are now enrolled following the first day of school.

Earlier this summer, Superintendent Josh Johnson told the school board that they projected 20 fewer students this fall. Johnson said the enrollment of 1,100 students in grades PK-12 is slightly above the 10-year average of 1099. He added, “The addition of several new students to the district has increased our enrollment higher than was expected at the beginning of August. The graduating senior class of 2018 outnumbered our incoming kindergarten class and 7th grade class from St. Catherine’s Private School.

An enrollment increase or decrease for any school district in North Dakota is huge being the lion share of the funding is tied to the state school funding formula.
Student enrollment increased by ten in the Valley City Public School District this past school year. The school district’s peak enrollment over the last 10 years was 1,137 students back in 2011.
