JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Jamestown High senior Mason Walters had a huge summer on the AAU basketball circuit in front of college coaches following a breakout junior year for the Jays.
Earlier today the 6-6 post player committed to stay home and play his college basketball at the University of Jamestown for head coach Danny Neville.
Neville is excited about the chance Walters has to be an impact player from the moment he steps on campus.
Walters earned all-state honors as a junior and helped lead Jamestown to just their second state tournament appearance since 2001 where they lost in overtime to West Fargo in the opening round.

Walters had scholarship offers from several local schools, including NCAA Division II Minot State.
He brings a rare combination of exceptional footwork and soft hands to the floor which Coach Neville says in rare in high school big men.
Walters will begin his final season with the Jays this winter where the team is expected to open the season with expectations of a deep run into March.
