VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Bureau of Criminal Investigation continues to investigate the arrest of Warren Lindvold. The Valley City man died six days after he was taken into custody by Valley City police for suspicion of DUI on July 15th.
Cash Aaland is the attorney representing the Lindvold family. Aaland said according to the preliminary autopsy, Lindvold died of a broken neck while he was in custody.
Valley City Attorney Lilie Schoenack represents the city. She said I have reviewed all of the reports and video associated with this arrest and it is clear that there was no wrongdoing on the part of the Valley City Police Department. She said Mr. Lindvold did not suffer any injury while in custody of Valley City Police Department.
Valley City Police Commissioner Mike Bishop told reporter Steve Urness that there’s a lot of fake news associated with this incident and story.
Barnes County State’s Attorney Carl Martineck said, “Mr. Lindvold was brought to the jail after being medically cleared at CHI Mercy Hospital. Later, Mr. Lindvold reported he did not feel well. He was then transported back to Mercy Hospital, and eventually to a hospital in Fargo. He added, Barnes County did request the assistance of BCI so that the matter can be properly investigated and to determine if there is any wrongdoing by any party.”
A request by NewsDakota.com to obtain video of the booking process in the jail or any jail video was denied by the State’s Attorney’s Office. Martineck said no video would be released while this incident is under investigation with the BCI.
According to the obituary, Lindvold died July 21st at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo.
