Thompson has won the State B Championship for the second consecutive year, beating Nelson County last year (2017) in Steele.  Carrington has reached the championship four out of the last five years.

Usually the champion qualifies for the Central Plains Regional Tournament, but Thompson declined the invitation because 9-man football practice starts on Monday, August 6th. The runner-up is next in line for the invite, and Carrington accepted, so Post 25 will travel to Wahpeton on Thursday, August 9th through the 12th for the Central Plains Regional. They will play at 4pm against the Wisconsin Single A champion in a double elimination style tournament.
