CARRINGTON, N.D. (NDSU) – Farmers, crop advisers and agricultural industry representatives will have an opportunity to view field research trials and receive production recommendations on corn, soybeans and dry edible beans at the annual row crop field tour on Thursday, Aug. 23, at North Dakota State University’s Carrington Research Extension Center.

Registration (with refreshments) will start at 4 p.m. and the tour will begin promptly at 4:30.

Tour topics are:

Corn starter fertilizer research update and Goss’ wilt management
Managing soybean cyst nematode and root diseases in soybeans and dry beans
Choosing row spacing to minimize the impact of white mold in soybeans
Optimizing fungicide control of white mold in soybeans and dry beans
Research update on rye as a cover crop for soybeans and dry beans
Dry bean variety performance, response to starter fertilizer and late-season production tips
Tour speakers include NDSU Extension specialists and North Dakota Agricultural Experiment Station scientists Juan Osorno, dry bean breeder; Greg Endres, Hans Kandel and Mike Ostlie, agronomists; and Andrew Friskop, Sam Markell and Michael Wunsch, plant pathologists.

A supper sponsored by North Dakota commodity organizations will follow the tour.

Continuing education credits in crop, pest, nutrient, and soil and water management will be available for certified crop advisers participating in the event.
