WILLISTON, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Fargo took advantage of two Jamestown errors to score two runs in the top of the seventh inning, then hold on for a 5-4 come-from-behind win over Post 14 in the first round of the State Class A American Legion Baseball Tournament at Aafedt Stadium in Williston.

Jamestown led 3-2 going into the top of the seventh inning when, what had been a strong defense, uncharacteristically made two errors in the inning allowing the Bombers to take the lead.

The inning started out bad when relief pitcher Kohl Kratz hit Andrew Linn with the first pitch of the inning. After Mike Hallquist sacrificed pinch runner Tyler Thrash over to second, Jace Dew stepped up and lined a single to right. Thrash came around to score to tie the game at 3. But the throw from right fielder Drew Murray got away from Max Anderson, and Dew moved to second. Pinch hitter Luke Kallod walked on a 3-2 pitch and Jake Bryant singled to load the bases.

Zach Sandy then lined one into left center field. Center Fielder Jeremy Williams had a bead on it but the ball kicked off his glove allowing the tie-breaking run to score. After a strike out, Drew Sandy walked to bring in another run to make it 5-3 Fargo heading to the bottom of the seventh.

In the bottom half of the inning, things looked good for Jamestown. Jeremy Williams’ pop up into short left center field dropped among three Bomber fielders for a leadoff single. Dawson Douty’s line drive to right field was caught by a diving Sam Moser. It was the second time Moser made a diving catch. The first came with the bases loaded in the third to end the inning. Williams alertly tagged up and went to second. Ryder Lunzman singled to score Williams and put the tying run on. Tommy Falk lined out to center for out number two. Chris Erickson singled to right to keep Post 14’s hopes alive with the tying run in scoring position. But Max Anderson’s route fly ball to right was caught by Moser to end the game.

Erickson gave Jamestown the early 1-0 lead when he was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the third. After Fargo tied it at 1, he gave his team the lead 3-1 with a two run single in the fifth. But Fargo got a run back in the sixth before the big seventh.
