HILLSBORO, N.D.  (NewsDakota.com)  Carrington set the tone early in the championship game on Saturday against Hillsboro/Central Valley in the 2018 Class B Central Region American Legion Baseball Tournament, scoring four runs in the top of the first inning and never looked back as they go on to defeat the Blue Sox of Hillsboro/Central Valley 10-4. It was the second time the two teams met in the tourney, Carrington also won the first meeting on Tuesday 9-1. Carrington improves to 27-6 overall and HCV drops to 29-9 overall.

Post 25 poured on five more runs in the top of the third, Kyle Leapaldt hit a grand slam. Payton Smith would go deep in the sixth inning for the 10th and final run for Carrington. Carrington has won the championship for the third year in a row and fourth time out of the last five years, and will also advance to the State Tournament for the fifth year in a row. Lucas Geiszler was the winning pitcher, working five and a third, Riley Pederson took the loss. Post 25 will enter this Wednesday’s state tourney in Langdon riding a nine game winning streak after going 4-0 in the central tourney.

Carrington will play Kidder County on the opening day of the 2018 State Class B Legion Tournament in Langdon at 1pm on Wednesday, August 1st.
