WASHINGTON, D.C. (NewsDakota.com) – North Dakota Senators Heidi Heitkamp and John Hoeven have announced more than $3.3 million for airports in Mandan and Jamestown.
“Enabling airports to operate smoothly keeps our communities safe and helps local businesses to thrive,” said Heitkamp. “These federal funds will help the Mandan and Jamestown airports make needed improvements that will keep them functioning. Everything from families to goods and services run through many of North Dakota’s airports that keep our economy on the move.”
The funding from the U.S. Department of Transportation will go towards each airports respective projects.
Mandan will receive $2.1 million to install perimeter fencing. Jamestown will get around $1.27 million to rehabilitate one of their runways and taxiways and improve a runway safety area.
“The airports in Mandan and Jamestown are particularly important to general aviation in those communities,” Hoeven said. “Today’s funds will help improve airport safety for both pilots and passengers.”
