LAMOURE, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – People far and wide traveled to rural LaMoure County to take part in the first ever Chan San San Scenic Backway Quilt Run on July 21st.

The Chan San San Scenic Backway is 35 miles of road through Southeastern North Dakota in LaMoure County. Sonya Albertson is the coordinator for the infrastructure which starts at Highway 46 and continues through County Road 63.

The Quilt Run was the first of its kind and was designed to bring people to the backway.

Albertson says they were happy for the turnout they got.

“We averaged 190 or more people attending each show who got to see more than 150 quilts,” Albertson reported. “That doesn’t even count the smaller quilted pieces like wall hangings, etc. We had people from Bismarck, Fargo, South Dakota, Grafton, Medina to name a few towns. And of course, we had a lot of Jamestown people.”

Five quilt groups including Comforts of Home Quilting & More in Jamestown, Quilted Ceiling & Gifts in Valley City, Quilt-N-Sew, LLC in Oakes, and Rumpelquiltskin in Wishek donated their time and help to the run.
