CARRINGTON, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Carrington School Board toured the new Elementary School this week.

Carrington Public School Superintendent Brian Duchscherer says the board was able to tour the entire facility. He says there was a few concerns on the timeline of the school being finished before this fall.

Duchscherer says contractors have installed the wood floor and will be waiting for it to be lined and sanded. Once it’s sanded and painted, the bleachers will need to be installed.

While it is behind, Duchscherer says most of the building will be done in time for the school year.

Duchscherer says a lot can change in the next month and will remain positive the contractor can get to the project soon. Right now, the school would love volunteers to give their time helping them move into the new school starting next week.

Playground equipment is also being moved to the new elementary school along with new swings and a basketball court. A big highlight of the playground will be some green space.

As far as the old school location is concerned, Duchscherer says the board is looking to put the building up for sale. If that doesn’t happen, they’ll discuss a move to tear it down.
