JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – During the second week of July every year, therapeutic recreation has been celebrated since 1984.
According to Therapeutic Recreation Directory, recreational therapy is the use of recreation and other activities used as treatment interventions provided by professionals who are trained and certified.
Denise Jensen has worked as a recreation therapist since 1996.
Jensen says through recreation therapy, they’re able to help kids refine their skills while also participating in a hobby they may have.
To be a recreational therapist, Jensen says an individual must be driven, outgoing and able to multitask. Amanda Ronnie as another recreational therapist at the Anne Carlsen Center.
