JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A ride created to help “silence the stigma” will return for its 5th year this Sunday.

Created by Dave & Beth Lautt, the ride was started after their son Thomas took his own life in 2013. The ride raises awareness and support for those who suffer from all things including suicidal thoughts, PTSD, anxiety, depression, bullying, bipolar disorder or alzheimer’s.

“I speak about suicide and mental health issues because they are real,” Beth stated. “We all know someone who suffers in silence. We need to let them know it’s okay to seek help when it’s needed. I will speak for them and I hope others will join me.”

Monte Rodacker also lost his son to suicide. He says the ride has been greatly supported by the community and local businesses as they continue their mission.

Rodacker says they’ve had anywhere from 75 to over 100 riders participate. He says whether you have a bike or want to ride along in a car, anyone is free to do so.

The group has teamed up with the Midnight Riders out of Jud, ND who will be helping to guide the ride. He says registration will start at 11 AM with kickstands going up at 12:30 PM. The ride will cost $20 per rider and for each additional rider.

Rodacker says all the funds raised will go on to support their mission to silence the stigma surrounding suicide.

The ride will begin at Stutsman Harley Davidson in Jamestown this Sunday, July 15th. For more information, click here.
