CARRINGTON, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Winds upwards of 80 mph rampaged through Foster & Eddy County early Sunday morning.

Foster & Eddy County Emergency Manager Jess Earle reports that trees have been downed all over and power outages have been reported.

“Do not be on the road unless you absolutely need to be somewhere,” Earle stated. “Watch out for emergency vehicles and power company vehicles. Use caution when traveling between Sheyenne and New Rockford.”

Earle says crews are working on clearing downed power lines to restore power to the area. The dollar amount of damage done is not known at this time, but Earle says it could be a lot with trees on houses and vehicles.

As far as wind speeds recorded, Earle says they had around 80 mph straight line winds at around 3:15 AM this morning. As cleanup continues, Earle gave some tips and guidance for the two counties.

-Trees can go to the compost or landfill – take a left after the gate for the landfill

-Do not attempt to take down large heavy trees if you do not have the capabilities to do so

– Please check on your neighbors if it is safe to do so

– If a puncture wound occurs while clearing debris, consider getting a tetanus shot/booster as soon as possible
