Mildred Jane (Gahloff) Gutting was born August 22, 1920 near Valley City in Barnes County, North Dakota.  She was the daughter of Herman and Vanna (Ludwig) Gahloff.  Millie attended Alderman School in Ashtabula Township.  She married George Gutting on September 17, 1946 in South Dakota.  They made their home in Valley City where George was the manager of Fairmont Foods.  George passed away on January 15, 1971 and Millie then moved to Luverne, North Dakota.  She moved back to Valley City when her friend and companion Wilbur Haugaard passed away June 30, 2003. Millie lived in her condo until moving into Bridgeview Estates.

She died Friday, July 6, at the Sheyenne Care Center, Valley City.  Millie was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, and son-in-law, Michael Hemmer.

Millie is survived by her two daughters, Georgie Hemmer and Helen (Marlyn) Legler, both of Valley City and five grandchildren.

The funeral service will be 10:30 am Monday, July 9, 2018 at Oliver-Nathan Funeral Chapel, Valley City.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the chapel.  Burial will be in Woodbine Cemetery, Valley City.
