JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Two families were displaced following a home fire Thursday night in Jamestown.
The Jamestown Fire Department was dispatched to 1105 7th Avenue Southeast at around 11:20 PM to the second floor of the apartment. Jamestown Fire Chief Jim Reuther says preliminary investigations say the fire started after a breaker went out.
Crews were able to get the fire under control by about 12:30 AM and cleared the scene at 1:45 AM. While the cause isn’t clear, Reuther says with the information he’s learned through the investigation, they’re leaning towards the breaker as the cause.
Both families displaced were assisted on scene by the Red Cross Association. They have since been put in another building owned by the property owner. Reuther says there was one injury to a firefighter when he strained his back during the call.
The incident remains under investigation.
