JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A man is in custody after fleeing and hiding from police Tuesday afternoon.
The Jamestown Police Department was called just after 1 PM Tuesday to reports of a domestic assault in the Northeast part of Jamestown. Major Justin Blinsky stated that officers arrived on scene a short time after the call came in.
Major Blinsky reports that the suspect fled police, leading them on a brief chase. He says additional agencies were brought in including the Stutsman County Sheriff’s Office and Stutsman County Drug Task Force. Once a containment perimeter was established, officers began searching backyards for the suspect.
Blinsky reports that 24 year-old Shawn Matthew Opsahl of Jamestown was arrested on suspicion of domestic assault and failing to halt for a peace officer. He’s currently being held at Stutsman County Corrections awaiting formal charges.
