VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)- Post 60 was able to keep Kidder County off the scoreboard for 6 innings in a 5-2 win Friday night at Charlie Brown Field. Valley City, who’s 8-10, plays Wahpeton in a pair of region games Friday night at home. Both games can be heard on KOVC 1490 AM/96.3 FM and NewsDakota.com
Game 1: Valley City 5 vs. Kidder County 2
Starter Jacob Johnson carried a no hitter into the 6th. Tayson Knight broke up the bid with a one out single in 7th.
Johnson would go on to strike out 11 while surrendering an earned run. Ross Schneider also went the distance allowing 7 hits with 2 earned runs and 3 Ks.
Post 60 had 7 hits, Johnson was 2 for 3 with a triple and RBI. Devin Anderson also produced a 3 bagger and RBI.
Game 2: Kidder County 9 vs. Valley City 1 (5 innings)
A 6 run 3rd by Kidder county lifted them to the win. Dillon Steinolfson drove in 3 runs to pace Kidder County. Avery Bennefeld, Easton Hesch and Matt Brandvold all had hits for Valley City.
Bennefeld took the loss pitching 3 innings.
