STREETER, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Reports of damage from severe storms continues to roll in Friday.
According to the Bismarck National Weather Service, the storms began around Dunn County and continued eastward, bringing with it high winds and heavy rains. Funnel clouds were also reported. Meteorologist Todd Hamilton told Prairie Public Radio that the storm brought heavy winds across the region.
Rich Bohn reports that winds of up to 75 mph caused major damage in Streeter. Below are some photos he submitted to NewsDakota.
Otter Tail Power Company reports that numerous outages ocurred from the storm and they continue to work on those in both North Dakota and Minnesota.
“Crews are working to assess and repair damage, though we expect that it could be several hours before we’re able to restore power in most areas,” said Area Manager Jeremy Rham.
Areas affected include towns in and around Devils Lake, Garrison, and Rugby, North Dakota, and Mahnomen, Minnesota.
“We appreciate our customers’ patience as we work to safely restore power,” said Rham. “And, importantly, please remember to stay away from downed or low-hanging power lines.”
