ENDERLIN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)- The difference maker was defense Wednesday night in Enderlin. The host Railcats allowed a Valley City comeback with some late miscues but ultimately came back on Post 60’s mistakes winning 5-4 in 8 innings.

Valley City broke the 5 inning game open with a 7 run 4th winning 10-5. Post 60 is now 7-9 overall, they host Kidder County Friday. The Railcats are 11-3, they host Ellendale Thursday.

 

Game 1: Enderlin 5 vs. Valley City 4 (8 Innings)

Trailing 3-1 in the top of the 7th and down to their final strike, Valley City scored 3 runs on an RBI hit by Briar Harvey and 2 run error that allowed Easton Hesch and Rylee Bjork to reach home safely.

Enderlin scored the tying run in the bottom of 7th when Jade Pulkrabek avoided the tag on a mishandled play at the plate. The Railcats had the winning run at 3rd but could not score forcing extra innings.

Valley City had a 2 out double by Reese Huschka in the top of the 8th but left him stranded.  Enderlin’s Dakota Mark led off the home half of the inning with a double. Dustin Kasowski and Chance Bye were walked to load the bases. The first pitch Jade Pulkrabek say was wild and scored Mark to end the game.

Jonah Welter went the distance for Enderlin. He gave 2 earned runs on 7 hits with 2 strike outs. Corey Nelson pitched an inning plus of relief taking the loss.

Post 60 had 8 hits with Harvey going 2 for 4 with an RBI. Huschka had 2 doubles with a run batted in. Chance Bye had 2 hit with a 3rd inning 2 run home run for Enderlin.

Game 2: Valley City 10 vs. Enderlin 5 ( 5 Innings)

Conner May helped power Post 60 to a 7 run 4th inning with a grand slam. Grady Kargas drove in 3 runs to help Valley City split the 2 games. Jade Pulkrabek had a home run with 3 RBI to lead Enderlin.

Riley Miller earned the win, he pitched 3 2/3 with 2 strike outs. Nathan Amerman was the losing pitcher.
