VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The first phase of the new athletic complex at Hanna Field in Valley City is on track to be complete in August.

Superintendent Josh Johnson said first phase is being funded with the school districts building fund over a 19 year period.

He said a fundraising committee is trying to raise $500,000 for the $2 million project to bring the total cost back to $1.5 million. Additional phases of the project are planned pending future funding.

A camera is recording the entire construction project so school officials can monitor the progress of the first phase.

The contractor is Peterson Companies. Construction Manager Mike Barsness of Consolidated Construction said the first phase includes an eight lane track with upgraded field events. A storm drainage system for the site is being upgraded.

Consolidated Construction is the construction manager for the project. KLJ Engineering and JLG Architects are assisting in the design and planning of the Hanna Field Complex.
