LAMOURE, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)- The Oakes Post 36 American Legion baseball team scored 10 runs in the first three innings to surge past LaMoure Post 19 16-4 Monday night at Townsend Field.

Post 36 (4-2 Class B Southeast Region) plated a run in the first inning, five in the second, and another four in the third to pull away early. Post 19 (2-3) did manage to scored three runs in the third, but Oakes put up another three runs in the sixth and four in the seventh to thwart any comeback.

Tyler Voightman, who only lasted two-thirds of an inning last time against LaMoure, threw two innings, striking out five and walking four. MacClaine Biermann took the loss for LaMoure, going two and two-thirds innings, surrendering eight earned runs to go along with six strikeouts. Taylor Schall scored four times and Izaiah Hoelscher had three hits in the victory.

LaMoure heads to Ellendale Tuesday, and plays Fairmount-Hankinson-Lidgerwood Thursday. Oakes does not play again until Wednesday, July 11, when they host a doubleheader against Kidder County-Steele.
