JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Jamestown is home to the world’s largest buffalo as well as the rare albino buffalo.

Now, it’s home to the hungriest buffalo.

Jamestown Tourism has started their “Feed the Buffalo” campaign to raise funds to afford refurbishing the Dakota Thunder sculpture.

Emily Bivens with Jamestown Tourism says because of this, there’s a substantial need to refurbish the monument. She says the cost will be much more than the $8,000 they paid for to repaint it nearly 2 years ago.

Bivens says Jamestown Tourism and others came up the “Feed the Buffalo” campaign to raise money in donations to help alleviate the potential cost of the extensive work that will take place in the next few years. To do so, vistors of the World’s Largest Buffalo will be greeted by a new sight.

The constructed donation site was made by Dan Poland and is located right next to the statue. Bivens says they will use those donations and fundraisers to help pay for the future refurbishment of the community’s beloved monument.
