JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Rural Fire Department will move forward with the new $2.8 million fire station after receiving majority vote approval for a tax mill levy Tuesday.
The final tally from the special vote was 86 yes and 45 no, a total of 131 votes cast from members of the Jamestown Rural Fire District. The district will now apply for a 30-year loan from the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development Community Facilities Direct Loan and Grant Program. The five mills will cover the loan payment for the first year.
The Jamestown Rural Fire Department has purchased a building at 1209 9th Street Southeast from Centurylink to keep all of their vehicles and equipment in one location. They will be adding an addition to the building and updating it to meet their needs.
