HOPE, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) After starting the season 0-2, the defending Central Region champs rebounded nicely on Thursday as they roll past the Horned Frogs of Hope/Finley Post 18 in a double header sweep, 12-2 in seven innings and 14-1 in five innings. Carrington Post 25 improves to 2-2 overall and 2-2 in the Central Region, Post 18 drops to 1-5 overall and 0-3 in the Central Region.
Game 1: Carrington 12 Hope/Finley 2
Shortstop Jayden Shipmen was 3-for-5 at the plate with four RBI, two RBI doubles and a two RBI single and scored two runs. The winning pitcher was Lucas Geiszler, working six innings, with 10 strikeouts and two runs and five hits. Xavier Jacobson suffered the loss, working five and a third innings, nine runs and seven hits. At the plate for the Horned Frogs, Ryan Tuite was 2-for-3, with two singles and an RBI.
Game 2: Carrington 14 Hope/Finley 1, 5 innings
Trey Rosenau was 3-for-3 with four RBI, scored three runs and Garrett Bickett was 2-for-4 at the plate with two singles and an RBI for Carrington. The winning pitcher was Payton Smith, working all five innings, one run on five hits. Colby Dows took the loss, working two innings, eight runs on six hits. Lead-off man Owen Zerface was 2-for-3 with two singles and scored a run for Post 18.
