JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Parks & Recreation Department has held their parks program each summer for kids to have something to do.

New this year is the Healthy Connections portion of the program. Jess Vandal is the Program Coordinator for the Parks Program.

The program is each weekday throughout the summer.

Vandal says this year, they’ve teamed up with Amy Walters to bring more substance to the program. Walters calls it the “Healthy Connection.”

Walters says they will be having conversations on safety with kids, but still keep the fun. She says they’ve identified local resources to address areas of safety concerns in the region from local date. SRO Andrew Staska talked with kids about bike helmets and safety. She says other departments like the Jamestown Fire Department and NDSU Extension bringing experts to the parks to talk about different topics.

Vandal says they also have their weekly track meets for kids ages 2 and up at the University of Jamestown Track each Wednesday night at 5.
