OAKES, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)- A longtime member of the Oakes School Board will serve another term, while the board will have a new face representing the constituents in the city proper; from results of an election Tuesday.
Sonia Meehl won re-election for the rural area east of North Dakota State Highway 1 with a total of 150 votes to Jennifer Harris’ 63 votes.
The seat representing the city of Oakes was won by Bill Schmitz with 144 votes to Sara Zantow’s 66 votes.
Voters also determined Tuesday that future public publishing of the school board’s minutes will occur by a tally of 203 in favor to seven opposed.
The results will become official Monday June 11, when the school board canvasses the election results.
