VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)- Reagan Ingstad made the most of her last day as a Valley City High School Athlete. After playing in her 4th career doubles state championship match and receiving all state recognition with teammate Cali Halgrimson, she was named The North Dakota High School Coaches’ Association Senior Athlete of the Year.
Ingstad’s Miss Tennis Award is backed by an impressive resume. She’s been a 5 time all state selection in doubles competition, finishing second in the state twice with Clarissa Olson (2014 & 2015) and Halgrimson (2017 & 2018) while adding a 4th place finish with Maia Wendel (2016).
In EDC doubles play, Ingstad has won the championship twice, finished 2nd twice and 3rd once with 4 all region selections. She became a member of the varsity team as a 7th grader right around the same time she made the decision to shift her focus on tennis
The last 6 seasons have been an overall success for Hi-Liner tennis, they have made 5 trips to state as a team and have seen growth in participation. Ingstad was a contributor on each of those teams; for the school’s first female tennis senior athlete of the year the lasting impression left on the program is still sinking in
In addition to her place in the tennis record books Reagan Ingstad also has a place in Valley City volleyball history. The all state and 2 time all region honoree owns career records in assists (2,522) and aces (233), season assists (951), match Assists (55) and aces (15). Last fall The Hi-Liners made their first ever trip to state where they placed 4th.
She’s committed to VCSU volleyball for the upcoming season but also gets the chance to continue tennis and play with some familiar faces
Three Hi-Liners overall have now won the senior tennis athlete of the year award with Evan Knodle and Jeremy Koeplin winning it for the boys.
