JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown City Council received an update on the ongoing River Clearing Project Monday evening.
Acting City Engineer Travis Dillman says the entire James River has been inventoried from the reservoir to the city limit line.
Dillman says during the June 21st committee meeting, they will look to gain approval from the city for bids and specs to begin the work. He says they are in contact with Stutsman County Emergency Manager Jerry Bergquist and in discussion to partner up with their planned project to clean the distilling basins.
More information will be provided with discussion during the city’s June 21st committee meeting.
Later discussion was held concerning the open Water Superintendent position. During a special meeting April 16th, the council approved the hiring of Perry Kuss, who later turned down the position.
Mayor Katie Andersen says Rowell has been with the city for 14 years and has been handling the basic jobs of Water Superintendent since Steve Suko retired.
The city later gave permission to Interstate Engineering to provide assistance as need to the Water Treatment Plant and Wastewater Treatment Plant as Rowell settles into the new position.
During those talks, Councilman Dan Buchanan brought forth concerns on the city’s need for a City Engineer.
The council informed Buchanan that they were not currently seeking someone to fill the open position. Both motions were passed.
