GRAND FORKS, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)- Reagan Ingstad and Kali Halgrimson’s season came to an end last year in the title match of the state doubles tournament where they lost to Maddie Johnson and Maddie Anderson of Grand Forks Red River.
In their final tournament together the 2 will battle to the last team standing this weekend in Grand Forks.
Last weekend during The EDC Tournament Ingstad and Halgrimson advanced all the way to the title match before falling to a team from Sheyenne 6-3,6-4. Both were named to The All EDC Team and Ingstad was the co-senior athlete of the year.
Playing a day after The Hi-Liners failed to qualify a team it took them some time to find some footing
Ingstad, a senior, and Halgrimson, a sophomore, are playing together for the second season. In terms of skills and personality both felt things worked well right from the beginning
The state individual tournament starts Friday in Grand Forks and Valley City will have just the one doubles team playing. Not only are they looking for their consecutive trips to the title match but also the 4th trip for Ingstad. They will play Lauren Botsford and Jenna Stiegelmeier of Bismarck St.Mary’s at 10am.
Valley City has not had a double state championship since Susan Umsted and Brenda Ament won it all in 1991.
